About 2,000 security operatives and military hardware, including fighter jets have been deployed to Maiduguri ahead of yesterday’s declaration of State of Emergency.
In neighboring Yobe State, it is not clear how many soldiers were deployed but residents said shortly after the declaration of state of emergency, stop and search operations have been intensified in the state capital while movement have been restricted in other places.
Residents said the deployment of the federal troops, including the army, navy, air force and operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) began at the weekend.

NEW SEASON OF 24 BACK IN MAY 2014
The clock will start ticking again on Fox's real-time thriller 24.
The network on Monday confirmed plans to restart the action thriller, which starred Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer and ended its eight-season run in 2010.
The new season, one of two "limited series" Fox plans for 2014, will be compressed into 12 weeks and premiere next May, says Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly. "We'll go in chronological order with the hours of the day, but we'll skip some hours," he says. READ MORE AFTER D CUT

Vast from the popular singing group, Bracket, has been diagnosed of cancer
Nwanchukwu Ozioko, popularly known as Vast from the popular singing group, Bracket, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma, a type of cancer of the blood. (Please Google it)
The singer was diagnosed in February this year after suffering serious body pains, headaches, non stop coughing, loss of weight and weakness while in Paris for a show. He flew to London where a test conducted determined he had cancer. Vast has been receiving treatment at the Wellington Hospital in the UK since February and I hear he's responding very well to treatment. He has undergone 4 cycles of chemotherapy with each cycle costing about N1.4million. He will do a few more before returning to Nigeria next month.

Rapper Ja Rule released from prison
fter spending almost two years in prison for attempted illegal gun possession and tax evasion, US rapper Ja Rule has been released from prison. Ja Rule was released from Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York today Tuesday May 6th but will remain on home confinement until July 28th.
Ja Rule was sentenced to two years in prison for attempted criminal possession of a weapon and 28 months for tax evasion. He served both sentences concurrently.

Gay Allegedly Stabs Partner To Death In Lagos
Investigation into the murder of a banker, Adindu Ohamara, who was stabbed to death by his alleged homosexual lover in Akoka, Bariga Local Council Area of Lagos State has started, the Lagos State Police Command has said.
It was gathered that the deceased banker, who resides in a three-bedroom flat in Akoka with his elder sister and one Collins, an undergraduate of the University of Lagos was stabbed repeatedly by his lover.
It was learnt that trouble started for Ohamara, who was believed to be a homosexual and fond of bringing different men, when he decided to get married due to family pressure.
A resident, who craved anonymity, said after the banker had done his wedding introduction, a man believed to be a gay fellow stormed his home to fight him.

Man sentence to 45 yrs in court for steling Governors phone
For stealing a N50,000 Sony Ericsson phone belonging to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, a 31-year-old Kelvin Ighodalo has been sentenced to 45-year imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court.
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27, 2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud. contiue to read

Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi (MON) is presumably a household name in Nigeria being the great intellectual who designed the Nigerian flag at the age of 25 while he studied in London.
His flag design was accepted amongst other designs, for its ingenuity and depth. This undeniably shot Pa Akinkunmi into limelight and enlisted him amongst Nigeria’s heroes and icons.
