Jamb 2012 result is out
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Friday indicted eight states over alleged extortion and special centres just as it has withheld results of 52 centres thus affecting the timely release of results of 27, 266 candidates in those centres.
The JAMB boss noted that of the total of 1,503,931 candidates that sat for the 2012 UTME exams, 833, 082 were males with 660,522 females thus representing 55.78 percent and 44.22 percent respectively.
Eight states from which the 52 centres’ results were withheld, Rivers State top the list with 24 centres, followed by Lagos with 11 centres while Imo had state 6.
Others are Benue and Delta states with 3 centres each; Abia and Cross Rivers had 2 centres a piece while Nasarawa had only 1 centre results withheld.

Tibetan protester sets himself on fire
27year old Tibetan protester, Jamphel Yeshi, today set himself on fire and sprinted for 50m through New Delhi, in a demonstration during the Chinese president's visit to India.
Yeshi, who was on fire for about two minutes before he collapsed, sustained burns on 98 per cent of his body. Other protesters doused him in water and took him to the hospital where he's in critical condition.
Lagos State Govt demolish five mosques
The Lagos State Government last week demolished five mosques located within the State secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, following an order by Governor Fashola, banning all religious activities within the secretariat.
The demolition of the mosques was carried out by the government after getting intelligence reports from SSS that the secretariat was vulnerable to attack by Boko Haram as long as the mosques remain within the secretariat.

The reported tragic death at midnight of a four-month-old child is now causing ripples at Emebiren street Okumagba layout Warri, Delta State. The victim, Kenneth Ogbetuo was said to have had overdose of breast milk from his 25 years old mother, Mary Ogbetuo.
According to sources in the neighbourhood, the mother of the baby left her big breast in the mouth of the baby and slept overnight, only for the father of the baby to raise alarm at about 6am the following day that his child was stone dead.
The Father of the child Mr. Willy Ogbetuo who is popularly addressed as Baba Fryo told Weekend Champion that he had severally warned his wife not to leave breast in the mouth of the baby whenever she wants to sleep, stressing that each time he cautioned his wife, her response was always “go, you yeh yeh man” .
Eyewitness said as at the time Baba Fryo alerted neighbours of the unfortunate incident, the four months old child was already dead and breast milk mixed with blood gushed out of his two nostrils.
