For Starboy, Wizkid, who clocked 23 on Tuesday, life began long before he reached the age of accountability. At 11 as Lil’ Prinz, he recorded his first song with OJB Jezreel.
No doubt, he loves the good life. He celebrated his birthday in the UK. At the party attended by his friends including Liam Payne, a member of a popular UK band, One Direction, they swigged Alexander Amosu’s £1.2m Taste of Diamond provided by Payne.
However, while fans and friends of the Nigerian music star marvel at the news that Payne has shelled out a whopping N300m on a bottle of champagne for his Nigerian friend, Nigerian luxury designer, Alexander Amosu, has explained that there is a cheaper version of the Champagne which is sold for just £350 (N87,500).
This is in reaction to a Daily Mail article on the price of the champagne. He took to his Instagram page to clarify that there’s a Swarovski diamond edition of his Taste of Diamond champagne. The diamond encrusted bottle is worth £1.2m, while the Swarovski version is just £350.
“Wow!!! Seems the media has taking my instagram and changed it to their own. Swarovski diamond edition as stated in my Instagram is £350 not £1.2m,” he posted on his page.
Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, is a singer, songwriter and performer. In 2006, he came out with the name Wizkid, a name that has become very popular today.
Wizkid came into limelight in 2009 when he first did a collaboration with M.I on Fast Money, Fast Cars which drew major attention to his distinct voice and singing style. He also got signed to Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment.
No doubt, the young star has done a lot for himself, achieving so much at such a tender age. As much as he has made so much money and fame, he has also attracted a lot of scandals to himself.
But he cares less as the money keeps flowing in and he keeps going on shopping sprees.
At the age of 20, this young man has already achieved so much, bagging awards and performing at some A-list events. Now there’s no stopping him as he has a big endorsement deal as one of the Pepsi ambassadors.
This child star dropped out of school in 2011 with the claim that school was overrated and that he needed more time to concentrate on his music. Although he said he would go back to school, it’s been two years now and still has not returned to school. He is also a young father of a child which he had with a fan at age 21.
Early this year, the child star said bye to his EME crew as he started his own STAR BOY Entertainment. In his recent song, ‘The Matter’, he made it very obvious that he is now a big bad boy and had grown from the small boy of yesterday that started off with love songs like ‘Holla at Your Boy’. Now in a ‘sure’ voice, he warned anybody that might want to get in his black book that “20 men shall fall that day if you cross my lane”.
Since then, he has bashed his N14m Porsche car and got himself another one in less than a week. It seems as if the lack of childhood is really affecting this child star.
