five years old boy survives sucked in 300 yards pipe

A boy who was splashing around with friends in a pool of water is lucky to be alive after being sucked through a drainage ditch pipe.

The child, who had been at a party in Fort Myers on Thursday, was swept 300 yards through the pipe and dumped in a river.

Police say the boy, who was about five years old, is lucky to have survived, and said if he had been knocked unconscious he could have drowned in the pipe, which was about 15in in diameter.
